Update 9.20.1 Release Notes

Update 9.20.1 Release Notes

Main Changes:

New Features

  • Update to the Personal Missions

Idea Behind Changes

  • Reworked the visual and sound component
  • Added new rewards
  • Revised mission conditions: to receive a reward vehicle, completion in vehicles of higher tiers is no longer required
  • Added Orders that simplify completion of the Personal Missions
  • Learn more about the changes to the Personal Missions in a special video that can be watched in the game client

Interface and Sound

Reworked all interfaces of the Personal Missions:

  1. Changed the point of entry to the Personal Missions: now it is located on the upper panel of the Garage, under the Battle! button. The tab name is Campaign
  2. Added the "General" screen that displays all operations
  3. Completely reworked the screen of operations: now it looks like a geographical map with objectives displayed as map areas
  4. Completely reworked the Campaign reward screen:
    1. now the main reward (a vehicle) is located in the center of the screen
    2. added operation statistics: now players can see how much more credits can be earned

Added new sounds:

  1. Added a special sound track for the Personal Missions
  2. Added interactive sounds: the more missions within a set are complete, the more intensive music is played

New Way of Earning Reward Vehicles

Commendations were replaced with Components:

  1. To receive the reward vehicle for an operation, all five Components should be collected: hull, suspension, gun, power unit, radio
  2. Each component corresponds to an appropriate mission set within the operation:
    1. Power unit: set of missions for light tanks
    2. Suspension: set of missions for medium tanks
    3. Hull (+turret or cabin): set of missions for heavy tanks
    4. Gun: set of missions for tank destroyers
    5. Radio: set of missions for SPGs
  3. To receive a component, the final (15th) mission of the corresponding set of missions should be completed

Orders

Added a new game asset: Order:

  1. To receive an Order, the final mission of any set should be completed with honors
  2. The Orders can be committed (i.e. used) to any mission. Thus:
    1. The selected mission will be considered completed without honors
    2. The player will receive the reward for the completion of the primary conditions
    3. A used Order remains committed to the mission
    4. The committed Order is not removed but disabled until the player retrieves it
  3. To retrieve a committed order, the mission should be completed with honors. Thus, the player receives the Order back and can use it again.
  4. Number of Orders to be committed to missions:
    1. Any mission from 1 to 14 requires 1 Order
    2. Mission 15 requires 4 Orders

Summary: orders can be used to pass complicated missions or missions that the player considers to be uninteresting. Important: players can commit Orders to the final mission of a set, even if the previous 14 missions are not completed. Having completed the four sets of missions with honors, players can immediately receive the last (fifth) vehicle component.

New Rewards

Added new rewards: badges

  1. The rank II badge is received together with the reward vehicle.
  2. The rank I badge is earned for completion of all 75 missions in a particular operation with honors.
  3. Two badges can be completed in each operation:
    1. After completing all missions in all operations, the player will receive the special unique badge: Campaign I Champion

Added new rewards: Camouflage patterns:

  1. A set of three Camouflage patterns for the reward vehicle is earned for completion of all 75 missions
  2. The same set of Camouflage patterns becomes available for any vehicle of the nation the reward vehicle belongs to, once all 75 missions are completed with honors
  3. A set of three unique Camouflage patterns (summer, winter, and desert) can be earned for completion of each operation:

Changes to the Mission Conditions

Missions in each operation were revised to correspond to the main reward. For example, now all missions of the StuG IV operation can be completed in Tier V vehicles; missions of the T28 Heavy Tank Concept operation can be completed in VII vehicles, etc. At the same time, participation restrictions remained unchanged. Players can complete missions of any operation even in Tier X vehicles.

Secondary conditions of final (15th) missions in each set were made more diverse. This is because of the fact that the additional reward of the final missions became more valuable: it now provides Orders.

Important! If the mission condition requires spotting 5 enemy vehicles (for example), and the player spots 7 vehicles, it is obvious that the mission is considered completed. This rule is true for all numeric conditions.

Improvements to the Grand Battle

The following changes were made to this battle type:

  1. Message about victory or defeat: added a new message about victory of defeat so that players know when and why the battle ended. The message displays separate animations for victory, defeat, and draw. The additional text provides information why the battle is over. When a battle ends because the base is captured, the progress bar of base capturing gets locked right before the message is displayed to show that the battle outcome cannot be changed. This functionality globally applies to all Random and Ranked Battles.
  2. Updated the reward tooltips that describe different completion conditions for the Grand Battle and other types of Random Battles. They were changed for simplicity of perception.
  3. Improved the HUD in the Grand Battle: transparency of the team list background was decreased to make information more legible on light backgrounds (sky, water, etc.) Borders were added in the top panel to make the empty progress bars more distinctive.

Switching to Wwise 2017.1.1

Switched to the new version, Wwise 2017.1.1, which allows further sound improvements.

Improvements to the Matchmaker

  • Now, the matchmaker attempts to assemble the teams considering the roles within the vehicle types: e.g., the Maus is matched against another Maus, Type 5 Heavy, or E 100, while the T57 Heavy is matched against the AMX 50B, etc. However, in some situations, the matchmaking by roles will not be mirrored, e.g. in case of Platoons that comprise vehicles of different roles.
  • Increased the chance of getting ranked at the top of the list for Platoon players.
  • Equal chances of getting ranked in the top/middle/bottom of the list for different vehicle classes (previously, heavy and medium tanks would end up in single-level battles way too often, while SPGs and TDs tended to get ±2 and ±1 setups).
  • Increased the chance of getting matched in a Grand Battle.

Update 9.20 Release Notes

Expand

Update 9.20 Update Notes

Main Changes:

Changes in Version 0.9.20 vs Version 0.9.19.1

New Features:

New battle type in Random Battles: Grand Battle.

Rules:

  • Two teams, 30 players on each team
  • Tier X vehicles only
  • Battle time: 15 minutes
  • Victory conditions: Capture the enemy base or destroy all enemy vehicles.

Team Formation:

  • Grand Battles are created out of the common queue of the Random Battle mode.
  • Players enter Grand Battles randomly, by analogy with other battle types: Assault and Encounter Battle.
  • Grand Battles will be disabled by default for those players who have insufficiently powerful PCs. Such players, however, can enable it manually in Settings (Settings > General > Random Battle Types > Grand Battle).
  • Each team is conditionally divided into three sub-groups of 10 players each.
  • Matchmaker determines group composition, and players cannot change sub-groups.
  • Team composition in Grand Battles is governed by the general rules of Matchmaker 2.0
  • The vehicle-type composition of each of the sub-groups will match the opposing team as closely as possible.
  • No more than 4 SPGs on a team.
  • The difference in the number of Platoons between the team will not exceed 2 Platooned players.
  • If a player in the Platoon has Grand Battle enabled, such a Platoon can enter this battle type regardless of whether other players in the Platoon have this battle type enabled.

Map:

  • Grand Battles are fought in the 1.4 x 1.4 km Nebelburg map.
  • How players spawn in the map is conditioned by their sub-group.
  • Each of the sub-groups has its own starting position (the initial spawn point).

  • Concealment of a vehicle with unique Camouflage is displayed without the bonus for Camouflage in the Garage; however, in reality, the effect of Camouflage is active.
  • The recruiter's Recruiting Office does not display the recruits and reservists that they invited, if the recruiter's account is restored to a state, preceding the moment when recruits accepted the invitation.

Update 9.17.1 Release Notes

Main Changes:

  • Removed Ranked Battles from the client; players can view their statistics in the mode in the “Service Record” tab
  • Swapped the “Mode” and “Window Size” options in the Settings “Graphics” window; added resolution options for “Windowed” (borderless) mode, which may be useful for livestreamers who use one screen
  • Implemented automatic selection of an appropriate screen ratio; thus removed the corresponding option from the “Graphics” menu
  • Improved vehicle comparison: new feature considers Perks and Skills, mounted equipment, consumables, loaded ammunition, and camouflage in comparison
  • New method of importing game modifications: all content from each modification is packed into a single file
  • Improved the mechanic that arranges Platoon members when a battle is loading (Platoon members are arranged on the map closer to each other, considering map specifics and number of Platoons)
  • Improved the camera-switching method in observer (postmortem) mode:
    • First, the camera switches to the vehicles of any Platoon members
    • Next, the camera switches between players according to their position in the team panel
  • Changed tooltip design
  • Added numbers showing how existing bonuses influence simplified technical characteristics in the corresponding tooltips
  • New visualization of interface for activated equipment (Binocular Telescope and Camouflage Net) on the interface’s simplified technical characteristics
  • Changed the display format for standard shell’s penetration and damage characteristics. Now you see the average value instead of the range displayed in the Garage and vehicle preview window. The range of values can be found in the tooltip
  • Added standard shell indicator to the shell tooltip
  • Implemented comparison of shell parameters in the tooltip against the standard shell
  • Improved Garage filters for vehicles:
    • Search for a vehicle name in the filter panel
    • Change the vehicle panel layout in the filter panel
    • More statistics in vehicle slots: victory rate and Mastery Badge. The statistics are displayed upon hovering over the vehicle slot, and can be disabled in the settings
    • Toggle display of two-level vehicle panel: adjustable or minimalistic
  • Improved the interfaces of the mission popups and window:
    • Added helpful information to tutorial missions for new players
    • Improved notifications about new missions in the mission window
  • Removed irrelevant Crew bonus components (null values) from the exterior interface
  • Updated audio platform to Wwise 2016.2
  • Extended the functionality and support of the sound modes

Implemented the following changes to the interface elements:

  • Battle performance badges:
    • Implemented display of two or more badges for identical battle events. For example, when damage is caused to two enemy vehicles with a single shot (or with shots at two different vehicles within a very short time), the system will display two different badges instead of a single badge that shows the total damage amount and the vehicle name
    • If an enemy vehicle is destroyed, players do not need to see a badge with the number of damaged modules in the destroyed vehicle (displayed after the Destroyed badge). The “Critical Hit” badge in this case will be disabled
    • Added the new “Wrecked” badge (when damage is caused to enemy vehicles using the terrain). Such events display separately in the detailed damage panel. The badge will be added to the settings so that players can configure its display
  • Fire direction indicators:
    • Changed appearance of the damage direction indicators (to "unload" the battle interface)
    • New option to toggle the dynamic fire indicator (indicator width changes depending on the amount of received/blocked damage). The option is disabled by default: fire direction indicators have the same width
    • Changed indicator timing and added animation
  • Added explanations of the principles of some feedback options to the settings
  • Added information about receiving damage or critical hits to battle performance badges and detailed damage panel
  • Added shell types to the detailed damage panel. Premium shells are shown in gold. The indication of Premium shells will be permanent. The battle performance badges and fire direction indicators will not display the shell type. The shell type is displayed only in entries of the detailed damage panel in the following cases: damage received, critical hits received and damage blocked by armor
  • Added the option to toggle and change the location of the detailed damage panel (received damage, critical hits, and damage blocked by armor)
  • Damage or critical hits received from allies shown in the performance badge and detailed damage panel. The performance badge color and values of the detailed damage panel will be the same for both damage received from enemies and damage received from allies (red for received damage, orange for a critical hit)
  • Improved fonts of all performance badges and damage panel
  • Improved fonts and backgrounds for values in the detailed damage panel
  • Improved texts in the damage panel settings window
  • When all total values of the detailed damage panel are disabled, the detailed damage panel can still be displayed (in updates 9.16 and 9.17, when all three total values were disabled, the detailed damage panel was forcedly concealed)
  • For quick-firing guns, the battle performance badges and entries in the detailed damage panel display the total value of the shot series

Changes to Strongholds mode:

  • Replaced “Battle for Strongholds” sub-mode with “Advance,” a series of battles in a tug-of-war format with three defense lines and a number of distinctive features:
    • Strongholds cannot be pillaged anymore: in a defeat, Clans won’t lose anything. Winner's earnings depend directly on the level of their Stronghold
    • Strongholds don’t need defending every day. Battles aren’t mandatory
    • Battles start at a particular time and opponents are selected automatically from the queue
  • The disabled pillages and the mandatory Stronghold defense significantly changed Strongholds’ economy. The War Department, which is currently used by top Clans that earned their reputation in battles, would be available to a large number of Clans, which would result in an imbalance in the general game economy
  • To compensate for the advantages of the War Department, the “War Games” competition system is introduced, where Clans that participate in “Skirmishes” and “Advances” can compete for top positions in several categories. Winners receive Gold, special reserves, and other awards
  • Important: “War Games” will start after the release of Update 9.17.1
The battle room (in both “Skirmishes” and “Advances”) can be unlocked for legionnaires who can join your detachment (in both Team Training and Tank Company Battles). The list of unlocked battle rooms will be available in a special interface
  • Extended the list of female and male first and last names for several nations
  • Removed the “Show simplified technical characteristics” in the “Garage” option from Settings menu
