M41 90 GF: The Basics

  • The first tier VIII Premium light tank
  • Unique all-black paint scheme (with camo bonus)
  • Ammo includes HEP -- High-Explosive Plastic rounds; the American equivalent of HESH

The M41 90 GF brings brings to the fight a 90mm cannon with 182mm penetration. It's got a great rate of fire and excellent gun handling including a quick aim time, balanced by thin armor and slow acceleration despite a high top speed.

Play Style

Playing a high-tier light tank is tricky, yet rewarding.  In order to make a real contribution to your team, you want to spot the enemy for your teammates. Avoid speeding into a fight and engaging the enemy early. This will likely leave you unsupported and destroyed! Also, don't stay at the back of the field until later in the game to preserve your HP. This leaves you less able to assist your team or receive rewards for spotting enemies.

  • Seize and occupy key map areas for spotting
  • Don't get spotted in return
  • Don’t 'trade' damage to take shots
  • Monitor the map and relocate when needed
  • Stay intact and provide key information to your team
  • Work with artillery to spot and try to immobilize targets for them
  • Watch out for fast medium tanks and other light tanks

Loadout: What Equipment, Consumables, and Crew Skills Should You Use?

To take full advantage of the M41 90 GF, use or train a multi-Skilled Crew and use equipment and consumables wisely and practice good scouting techniques.

These are only suggestions! Feel free to see what works best for you.
Consumables
Large Repair and First Aid Kits actually reduce the chance of damage or Crew injury from random artillery and other shots being blind-fired at normal scouting positions. While you can use Chocolate instead of the Fire Extinguisher to improve your overall performance in battle, this presents a large fire risk. Keep in mind that consumables need to be replenished after each battle if used, while food or gas items are used automatically.
Equipment

Alternatively a Binocular Telescope to maximize the tank's vision potential at range, but you'll need to stay still.

Crew Skills and Perks

Crew Skills for this tank should emphasize camouflage and view range -- Sixth Sense is a 'must have' to indicate when you've been spotted and that you should relocate quickly!  Situational Awareness and Recon will help maximize your view range while Brothers in Arms will increase all your Crew Skills.

While you may be a low-tier tank in a tier X game -- never fear! Spot well, stay intact and it's your battle to shape!
