Commanders!
Battle Pass: Season XI is coming. Many players from Season X have been saving up their Tokens and anxiously awaiting the start of the newest Season, so they can finally acquire the IX KPz 3 Projekt 07 HK , a German tank destroyer that costs a total of 27Tokens.
The KPz 3 Projekt 07 HK is a very complex tank destroyer that features two modes with completely different strengths and weaknesses. Sure, it looks like a Swedish Tank destroyer, and it can switch between Travel and Siege mode during battle, but this tough nut to crack has more in common with the IX Kunze Panzer (a reward vehicle from Battle Pass: Season IV) than the Scandinavian TDs.
Read on to discover more about this unique vehicle in our how-to-play guide!
Travel mode is used for moving around the map and engaging in mid-range encounters that don't require pinpoint accuracy. This mode has a 6.8 s reload time and boasts a huge 3,176 DPM that can be tricky to deliver due to its low accuracy, longer aiming time, and 3 degrees of gun depression. The optimal firing conditions are relatively flat terrain or when aiming up. You can "add" extra gun depression by "hull rocking": Move forward, and then quickly stop and fire when the momentum forces your cannon down. While engaging in combat during Travel mode isn't the worst idea, you'll lack the surgical finesse and advantages of Siege mode.
Siege mode excels in long-range encounters, where its mechanics are generally in line with those of the high-tier Swedish tank destroyers. This mode improves accuracy to 0.25 m, allowing you to snipe even the smallest of targets, and takes gun depression to −12 degrees. As expected, drawbacks abound, including decreased movement speed, longer reload time, a lower average DPM of 2,274, and higher dispersion while moving the vehicle.
It takes three seconds to switch between Travel and Siege modes, and average damage and penetration are the same for both.
The KPz 3 Projekt 07 HK only has usable armor on the front upper plate of the tank. You can hope to ricochet some shells, but don't overly rely on it—especially when facing high-caliber guns. Everything above 135 mm is problematic for the upper plate, and the sides are vulnerable to guns above 90 mm. The key to survival is very good camouflage that allows for sneaky gameplay.
The KPz 3 Projekt 07 HK has excellent mobility. Travel mode delivers the best performance, with a fast 65 km/h top speed and the ability to take turns well. Use this to your advantage and occupy key positions, change flanks, and arrive at positions swiftly to fire at approaching enemies. Predictably, these attributes take a hit in Siege mode, where the top speed drops to 20 km/h, but you wouldn't use it for long-range travel anyway.

The KPz 3 Projekt 07 HK has a very high skill ceiling that may appeal to game veterans, but frustrate new or less-seasoned players. With the two modes, you need to plan tactics in advance. Playing it like a manual mode-changing Strv TD can yield success, but aspects of this German tank destroyer are quite complex and time-consuming to master.
