Vehicle Description

The AMX ELC 901 is a Tier VI French light tank, essentially a variant of the researchable AMX ELC bis. It shares the same advantages: an extremely low silhouette, excellent concealment, and great mobility. Equipped with a 90 mm gun, its turret rotation is limited to 30° due to its small size.

Historical Reference

The ELC AMX 901 was the first prototype of a tank being designed under the Engin Léger de Combat (light combat vehicle) program. Tests done in 1955 revealed many design flaws. An improved version of the tank—the AMX ELC 90 bis—was thoroughly reworked and given all necessary alterations. It differed greatly from the prototype and was essentially a brand-new vehicle.
