Rundown
- Tough turret and frontal armor: The T26E5 can take a beating from any tier VIII medium tank. Angle its hull wisely and you can also stand strong against heavy tanks and tank destroyers.
- Unmatched pain tolerance: With its insane HP (1,500), the enemy can take an age trying to destroy you.
- Great gun depression/elevation: Use hills to protect the hull and you might "live" to see the end of battle, also thanks to solid armor, endurance, and great gun depression.
- Exceptional 90mm gun: Amplify its effect with modules and equipment, use a fully-trained Crew, and you will be a huge pain in the side for the enemy who feels the hurt of your 2,500 DPM. Ideally, you could crush an IS-7 in less than a minute and still have time for two security shots!
- Base APCR shells: Good shell velocity coupled with 230mm penetration makes the T26E5 able to flatten foes with confidence.
- 40 km/h speed: Its mobility is already decent for a heavy tank, and it accelerates reasonably well, ensuring early takeovers of key map positions, as well as supporting medium tanks and other hot spots on the map.
- 390m view range: Whether playing attack or defense, the T26E5’s decent view range is among the best in tier VIII heavy tanks. It helps locate enemies before they pose a threat, leaving you with enough time to think over a winning tactic.
Battle Tips
- It’s dangerous to go alone: If on the offense, team up with medium tanks. The combined mobility, armor and HP will considerably raise your team’s chances at victory.
- Keep to hillsides: This newcomer has extremely good depression, which, together with a well-armored gun mantlet (280mm), gives the T26E5 a very strong edge in hill fighting, allowing you to hide its hull and fire at enemies from over a ridge. This tactic will come in especially handy when going against tier X.
- Maximize firepower and control: The T26E5 is best when securing favorable positions and leveraging DPM to the fullest. See-sawing from around the corner will do more harm than good: the majority of heavy tanks have higher alpha damage rates, so trading shots won’t get you far.
- Steer away from side scraping: It’s a safe tactic for most, but angling to expose your side won’t work for a T26E5 and its virtually non-existent armor. Mitigate this with the mobility and move away from face-to-face encounters on maps with urban areas.
- Get the big picture: The Т26Е5 can perform equally well in long-range duels, rough offensives, and in flanking. Keep an eye on the minimap to track where it can be of use to the team and adjust your tactics accordingly.
Play Style
If topping the team list, you can "beast" in many different positions and circumstances. Use your favorite strats, but don't forget the rest of the team -- coordinate a battle plan and use your strengths to lead your comrades to victory.
If fighting tiers IX–X, don’t rush into the vanguard. Play as a direct support vehicle, picking off enemies unseen from the second line of fire. Let top-tier tanks clash with each other, waiting until the enemy exposes a weak spot. Then let loose with a few accurate shots.
