The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

By RivaL's Unknown0ne

The Good

  • Decent damage per minute for a medium tank (approx. 1850)
  • Decent speed and maneuverability for its armor

The Bad

  • Very poor shell penetration
  • Lackluster gun handling
  • Armor is ineffective

The Ugly

  • Can battle up to tier VIII

Reasons to Buy

  • You're looking for a point-blank brawling tank
  • You want to train your Soviet medium tank Crews

Reasons Not to Buy

  • You prefer accuracy to raw damage per minute (go for the Pz. Kpfw. IV Schmalturm)
  • You want something with more shell penetration (try the Dicker Max)

Play Style

The T-34-85M’s strength is its damage per minute, which is best utilized close to the enemy and on their flank to help compensate for its poor gun handling and penetration. Medium to long range engagements are certainly possible, but the characteristics of the gun make them undesirable.

Loadout

If you want to maximize your damage per a minute, you’ll want to optimize your rate of fire and speed, while trying to compensate for its poor gun handling and minimizing downtime from critical damage.

Equipment

You could swap Ventilation or Gun Laying Drive for Coated Optics to offset its low view range.

Consumables

You could replace one of those with Rations to maximize damage per minute, though that cost can add up.

Crew Skills & Perks
"Smooth Ride" and "Snap Shot" help keep your shots on target, "Repairs" help keep you combat effective, and "Brothers in Arms" further increases your damage per minute. "Recon" and "Situational Awareness" could be used in lieu of Coated Optics to offset the low view range, and "Sixth Sense" is always nice to have.
