Commanders!
The ninth episode of our WWII podcast series, "The Finest Half Hour," is now available!
The war in the desert begins! Benito Mussolini decides it's time to prove to the world Italy is an equal member of the Axis. To prove this, he invades Africa...without telling the Germans. But will Il Duce's adventures in the desert restore his country to the glory of Rome, or lead his nation to disaster?
To help us tell the story, we teamed up with The Tank Museum, Bovington, which has two Matilda II tanks. The vehicle first saw action at the Battle of Arras in 1940, and played a crucial role in the North Africa campaign. The Tank Museum's operational Matilda II was manufactured in 1941 and subsequently sent to the School of Tank Technology in the U.K. It was transferred to the Tank Museum in 1949.
