Although maintaining neutrality throughout World War II, Sweden had a well-developed armaments industry, and by 1941, an order for a new mobile tank was requested. Armed with a 7.5cm cannon similar to the short German L/24, the Strv M/42 and its later variants saw service for almost 40 years.
