Steel Hunter: Fight to the Last and Battle for Supremacy!

Commanders! 

Starting August 26, you can experience an exciting new game event! In Steel Hunter, you fight alone or in a three-vehicle Platoon against other players. Battles unfold on a huge city map called Dreamland, which shrinks over time. In addition to new core gameplay elements, Steel Hunter offers special combat vehicles and heaps of in-game rewards.

General Overview

Before the battle, you can choose the part of the map where you will spawn. 

You are one of 20 players fighting for victory, and your main goal is to survive at all costs. Choose to fight solo or in one of seven Platoons of three (in the latter case a 21 players total). You must dominate the battlefield, while looting spawned treasures, and escaping Danger Zones that destroy your vehicle at the end of a countdown.

You can simply loot treasure without engaging enemies if you prefer — the choice of tactics is yours. Remember: Only one Commander or victorious Platoon is left standing when the battle ends!

Unique Vehicles

When the event begins, go to the Steel Hunter Garage through the drop-down menu right to the “Battle” button. You can find three (3) special vehicles to choose from: one from the U.S.A., one from Germany, and one from the U.S.S.R. Choose one of these unique tanks and then click the “Battle” button to begin!

Each vehicle can be upgraded in stages from Tier I to Tier VIII, even during battle. You can earn Battle XP for these upgrades by looting treasures, damaging and destroying enemies.

Loot & Airdrops  

One of your main tasks is to collect loot: special objects that periodically spawn on the map in predetermined areas. These items offer great advantages over your enemies and speed up your game progression. Loot delivered by air — Airdrops — are the most valuable type you can obtain. Many players will want to get their hands on them, so push yourself to beat the competition and retrieve them. We'll have more information on loot and Airdrops in a later article.

Radio Detection Mechanics

Radio Detection is an exclusive tactical mechanic displaying stationary loot points, as well as enemy tanks, on the mini-map. It's activated manually with the "X" key. But beware: using Radio Detection instantly reveals your current position on the mini-map when activated to all players within the detection radius.

Vision/Aiming Mechanics

In Steel Hunter, the system of visibility is based on the principle of cone visibility, which is new to World of Tanks. Your visibility cone is depicted on the mini-map, and only opponents and loot within it are visible.

But if the enemy comes to you close enough, they will automatically become visible, as in all other regular modes of World of Tanks. 

Consumables 

In Steel Hunter, four (4) unique types of consumables are available:

Turbocharger Temporarily increases the maximum speed and acceleration of the tank	Recovery Restores a fixed amount of HP	Target-Tracking Increases aiming speed, gun stabilization, and other combat parameters	Repair Kit Repairs all damaged modules (similar to Large Repair Kits in Random Battles)

Abilities 

In addition to consumables, you can activate global Abilities, including:

Recovery Zone Creates a temporary zone where you and your teammates may recover HP	Airstrike Allows you to attack opponents with bombs dropped from an airplane	Trap Creates a temporary zone where enemy tanks are slowed down	Smoke Screen Creates a smoke cloud to hide you from enemies
