Players' Guide to the KV-5

The Soviet KV-5 is a steel slab great at taking damage and supporting teams!

If you've seen this monster in the wild and wondered where you can get one, today's your lucky day -- the KV-5 is back in the Premium Shop for a limited time! Hit things really hard or train a Soviet heavy tank Crew while you sweep up huge stacks of Credits... and the tears of players you've destroyed along the way.

Basics | Play Style | Loadout

KV-5: The Basics

  • Looks and functions like a mobile fortress -- only a few gaps in that tough armor!
  • Gun is quick, managing a huge damage-per-minute
  • Easy to play, but a challenge to master!
  • You can ram pretty much anything and deal significant damage
  • High Credit earner and great Crew trainer
  • Won't see above tier IX unless Platooned with a non-preferential tank

Play Style

The KV-5 is designed to support your team and take hits -- be careful if you lead an advance alone; you may be cut off, outmaneuvered and poked full of holes. While its gun's accuracy and penetration stats may not look great, it's got a fast reload and can belch out high-damage shots like clockwork. Platooning with a friend in an IS-6 is also a great idea, as each vehicle can cover the other!

Great Protection... When Driven Backwards!

The KV-5 has two inactive frontal turrets with less armor than most of the rest of the tank, so if you're facing one and bouncing shots off of it, that's where you'll want to shoot. If you're driving one, you have a unique tactic at hand -- swing your turret around and drive in reverse!

Loadout:

To take full advantage of the KV-5, use or train a multi-Skilled Crew in Repair and Gunnery Skills, use equipment to enhance your gun, and practice good battlefield awareness. Also, your shells have good penetration with Premium APCR ammunition.

These are only suggestions! Feel free to see what works best for you.
Consumables
The standard loadout of Small First Aid Kit, Small Repair Kit and a Manual Fire Extinguisher is the economical way to go, while a Large Repair and First Aid Kits actually reduce the chance of damage or Crew injury from random artillery and HE Shells.
Equipment

Alternatively, a Large Spall Liner can minimize damage from enemy artillery and HE shells.

Crew Skills and Perks

Opponents will try hard to immobilize and outflank you -- boosting Repairs can get you back into the fight even faster while with Vertical Stabilizers to make you even more accurate. Finally, Safe Stowage reduces the chance of debilitating ammo rack damage. Brothers in Arms will increase all your Crew Skills.

The fearsome KV-5 is only in the Premium Shop for a limited time -- take it home today!
