The largest tank collection on display in the US today is located in the Bay Area. Not a lot of people seem to know that. However, we do!
In June, a spontaneous gathering was put together on the forum and some dedicated tankers took time off work to come check it out and have a chat with the Wargaming crew. We think it’s time to run another visit, on a more amenable day of the week.
Here is the mission statement:
Wargaming America invites 50 personnel to tour the Military Vehicle Technology Foundation 1000 on Saturday 05NOV11 in order to see the real steel. On order, detachment will relocate to local taco joint for a bite and conversation.
Here’s the practical information.
Click the 'Discuss this' link just below, and respond to the thread to 'book' your slot. If you were at the June meet, we do ask that you hold off on signing your name until Wednesday, in order to allow more people to experience the museum. The 50-person limit is fairly hard, as the museum is a private collection with admission by appointment only and with numbers restrictions. We’ll be visiting again at some point, so don’t worry if you don’t make the fifty on this occasion. (Demand will indicate how soon we do it again). We'll pick up the tab for the entry fee.
The actual link-up will occur at 0930 in the strip mall parking lot on Alpine Road, about a mile West of I-280, convoy to the museum at 0945.
