Commanders!

You completed all of Battle Pass: Season VII and collected all 21 possible Battle Pass Tokens. You resisted the temptation to spend any of them until Season VIII where you could finally build on your bank and obtain 24 of them. Once you reach that magic number, you can buy the Cobra.

A unique Tier IX reward vehicle, British Cobra is a brand-new medium tank that received its final polish and is now ready to storm the battlefield. Let’s take a closer look at this newcomer and see why you shouldn't hesitate to speed up your progress with an Improved Battle Pass!

Firepower

The Cobra combines two distinct playstyles into one versatile medium tank. Which side shows through is mainly determined by the type of shells loaded into the vehicle's four-round autoloader. The 120 mm QF gun has HEAT rounds by default but it can also fire powerful HESH ammunition that delivers 490 HP alpha damage.

Always check the enemy team's composition and watch the development of the battle closely to determine when it's time for typical British restraint—or time to let loose and smash. Select the HEAT shells with exceptional 268 mm penetration early and when faced with well-armored opponents. Once the battle has progressed, and the enemy lines are thinned out, switch to HESH rounds to finish off stricken enemies with four rounds in 4.5 seconds for 1,960 HP damage.

Beware: The Cobra's reload time from an empty magazine is a long 50 seconds. Those who like to surprise enemies at close range with clip-emptying burst fire better finish the job—otherwise you face a painful retreat or (depending on the opponent's HP) a nail-biting demolition derby.

Mobility

The Cobra's 40 km/h top speed is enough to stay close to allies, retreat when necessary, and occasionally chase an opponent away when the opportunity presents itself, but it is not a sprinter. The medium is more of a long-distance runner striving to see the end of the match. Equip a Turbocharger to increase your mobility, and boost the already excellent turret and hull traverse speeds with an Improved Rotation Mechanism to make it easier to outmaneuver your opponents in close combat. Complete your equipment selection with a Vertical Stabilizer to mitigate the biggest weaknesses of the gun and take out opponents while on the move.

Survivability

The Cobra's 130 mm overall frontal armor and 1,600 HP are hardly exceptional but nevertheless can take a hit. Side armor is rather thin, however, so avoid getting flanked by an opponent who managed to sneak up on you. Hiding and relying on concealment isn't a great tactic either: The camouflage values are at the lower end, and gun accuracy isn't good enough to act as a sniper.

Investing in view range, hanging back to support allied heavy tanks, and using the -10 degrees gun depression for hull-down tactics are far more likely to get the Cobra to the end of the battle with enough HP left to push forward and land hits.

Boost the vehicle's strengths with a Turbocharger in the first slot, Coated Optics in slot two to get a full field modification bonus, and a Vertical Stabilizer to diminish the canon's weaknesses. Alternatively, adding an Improved Rotation Mechanism makes it easier to outmaneuver an opponent.

Crew Skills

Hover your cursor over the images for more information on each piece of equipment.

Similar to other Support Medium Tanks, the crew comprises three members. The suggested skills apply if you don't want to reset your crew and focuses on gun reliability. "Repair" should always be among the first skills, as you don't want to get caught with your tracks down—especially when reloading your magazine. "Brothers in Arms" improves multiple values, including gun parameters, which is always useful.

Free Permanent Consumable

Like the AE Phase I, Kunze Panzer, and other Tier IX Reward Vehicles, the Cobra has a free built-in Large Repair Kit consumable, which occupies one of the slots on the Consumable Panel of your vehicle. The Large Repair Kit is permanently embedded, but you can move it to any of the three consumable slots. In battle, it works just like a regular Large Repair Kit, but with a passive bonus of +15% to the module repair speed instead of the usual +10%. After the battle, it is automatically refilled, free of charge.
