Commanders,
The Ares medium tank line introduced in Update 2.1.1 quickly became one of the most popular researchable branches in World of Tanks. Since the tanks' release, we have been closely monitoring their performance as well as your feedback.
Based on this analysis, we have prepared balance adjustments for the Ares tanks. We want to ensure that they keep their unique place in World of Tanks while remaining attractive and engaging for you to play. At the same time, they must stay properly balanced in comparison with other vehicles in the game.
These balance changes will be introduced in Update 2.2 and aim to better regulate the tanks' effectiveness in specific combat situations. You will be able to test them in advance during Common Test 3. Here's what to expect:
- All Ares tanks will receive a slight reduction to the base damage of standard and special shells, lowering the damage output of continuous fire.
- HE shell damage will be reduced more significantly due to its higher-than-expected performance.
- Some vehicles of this line will also have an increased delay before cooling begins, extending pauses between firing sequences.
- All tanks in the branch will now deal 10 times less damage to enemy internal modules to better match their firing mechanics.
- Additionally, armor on specific parts will be weakened to reduce survivability in direct engagements.
Check out the balance changes in detail below.

We will continue to implement timely balance adjustments to recently introduced vehicles when necessary to ensure you have a comfortable gameplay experience and enjoyable battles.
Roll Out!
