9.17.1 Update Notes

Game Features

  • Removed Ranked Battles from the client; players can view their statistics in the mode in the “Service Record” tab
  • Swapped the “Mode” and “Window Size” options in the Settings “Graphics” window; added resolution options for “Windowed” (borderless) mode, which may be useful for livestreamers who use one screen
  • Implemented automatic selection of an appropriate screen ratio; thus removed the corresponding option from the “Graphics” menu
  • Improved vehicle comparison: new feature considers Perks and Skills, mounted equipment, consumables, loaded ammunition, and camouflage in comparison
  • New method of importing game modifications: all content from each modification is packed into a single file
  • Improved the mechanic that arranges Platoon members when a battle is loading (Platoon members are arranged on the map closer to each other, considering map specifics and number of Platoons)
  • Improved the camera-switching method in observer (postmortem) mode:
    • First, the camera switches to the vehicles of any Platoon members
    • Next, the camera switches between players according to their position in the team panel
  • Changed tooltip design
  • Added numbers showing how existing bonuses influence simplified technical characteristics in the corresponding tooltips
  • New visualization of interface for activated equipment (Binocular Telescope and Camouflage Net) on the interface’s simplified technical characteristics
  • Changed the display format for standard shell’s penetration and damage characteristics. Now you see the average value instead of the range displayed in the Garage and vehicle preview window. The range of values can be found in the tooltip
  • Added standard shell indicator to the shell tooltip
  • Implemented comparison of shell parameters in the tooltip against the standard shell
  • Improved Garage filters for vehicles:
    • Search for a vehicle name in the filter panel
    • Change the vehicle panel layout in the filter panel
    • More statistics in vehicle slots: victory rate and Mastery Badge. The statistics are displayed upon hovering over the vehicle slot, and can be disabled in the settings
    • Toggle display of two-level vehicle panel: adjustable or minimalistic
  • Improved the interfaces of the mission popups and window:
    • Added helpful information to tutorial missions for new players
    • Improved notifications about new missions in the mission window
  • Removed irrelevant Crew bonus components (null values) from the exterior interface
  • Updated audio platform to Wwise 2016.2
  • Extended the functionality and support of the sound modes

Implemented the following changes to the interface elements:

  • Battle performance badges:
    • Implemented display of two or more badges for identical battle events. For example, when damage is caused to two enemy vehicles with a single shot (or with shots at two different vehicles within a very short time), the system will display two different badges instead of a single badge that shows the total damage amount and the vehicle name
    • If an enemy vehicle is destroyed, players do not need to see a badge with the number of damaged modules in the destroyed vehicle (displayed after the Destroyed badge). The “Critical Hit” badge in this case will be disabled
    • Added the new “Wrecked” badge (when damage is caused to enemy vehicles using the terrain). Such events display separately in the detailed damage panel. The badge will be added to the settings so that players can configure its display
  • Fire direction indicators:
    • Changed appearance of the damage direction indicators (to "unload" the battle interface)
    • New option to toggle the dynamic fire indicator (indicator width changes depending on the amount of received/blocked damage). The option is disabled by default: fire direction indicators have the same width
    • Changed indicator timing and added animation
  • Added explanations of the principles of some feedback options to the settings
  • Added information about receiving damage or critical hits to battle performance badges and detailed damage panel
  • Added shell types to the detailed damage panel. Premium shells are shown in gold. The indication of Premium shells will be permanent. The battle performance badges and fire direction indicators will not display the shell type. The shell type is displayed only in entries of the detailed damage panel in the following cases: damage received, critical hits received and damage blocked by armor
  • Added the option to toggle and change the location of the detailed damage panel (received damage, critical hits, and damage blocked by armor)
  • Damage or critical hits received from allies shown in the performance badge and detailed damage panel. The performance badge color and values of the detailed damage panel will be the same for both damage received from enemies and damage received from allies (red for received damage, orange for a critical hit)
  • Improved fonts of all performance badges and damage panel
  • Improved fonts and backgrounds for values in the detailed damage panel
  • Improved texts in the damage panel settings window
  • When all total values of the detailed damage panel are disabled, the detailed damage panel can still be displayed (in updates 9.16 and 9.17, when all three total values were disabled, the detailed damage panel was forcedly concealed)
  • For quick-firing guns, the battle performance badges and entries in the detailed damage panel display the total value of the shot series

Changes to Strongholds mode:

  • Replaced “Battle for Strongholds” sub-mode with “Advance,” a series of battles in a tug-of-war format with three defense lines and a number of distinctive features:
    • Strongholds cannot be pillaged anymore: in a defeat, Clans won’t lose anything. Winner's earnings depend directly on the level of their Stronghold
    • Strongholds don’t need defending every day. Battles aren’t mandatory
    • Battles start at a particular time and opponents are selected automatically from the queue
  • The disabled pillages and the mandatory Stronghold defense significantly changed Strongholds’ economy. The War Department, which is currently used by top Clans that earned their reputation in battles, would be available to a large number of Clans, which would result in an imbalance in the general game economy
  • To compensate for the advantages of the War Department, the “War Games” competition system is introduced, where Clans that participate in “Skirmishes” and “Advances” can compete for top positions in several categories. Winners receive Gold, special reserves, and other awards
  • Important: “War Games” will start after the release of Update 9.17.1
The battle room (in both “Skirmishes” and “Advances”) can be unlocked for legionnaires who can join your detachment (in both Team Training and Tank Company Battles). The list of unlocked battle rooms will be available in a special interface
  • Extended the list of female and male first and last names for several nations
  • Removed the “Show simplified technical characteristics” in the “Garage” option from Settings menu

    • Training area
    • Overlord
