We wanted to share a few bits of information on an important change that will be tested here on the NA server. We know that the number of self-propelled guns can have a dramatic impact on battles as they are a great compliment to other tanks, but they're also a challenging and delicate vehicle archetype to balance. With that in mind, we've been tinkering with finding the sweet spot for a hard cap on the number SPGs permitted in one battle in order to make higher tier games more dynamic.
We've tried cranking it way, way, down, but it resulted in some really odd scenarios and matchmaking issues, especially for those people playing artillery, so we bumped it up a little bit and are likely going to implement a max of five artillery per team. This doesn't mean every match will have five artillery, it simply means that there will never be more than five on each team.
In order to apply these changes the server maintenance will begin on December 29th, 2012 at 03:00 PST (11:00 UTC) and will last for approximately 30 minutes.
Again, it's a test, and we're definitely looking for your feedback and will be analyzing game data. Please share your experiences with us in the forum post once you've had a chance to feel out the changes.
This is the beginning of a long chain of progress that may allow for the possibility of introducing tier 9 and tier 10 artillery pieces. At this point we're just laying the ground work.
