Take a Trip to Paris in Update 9.16

Commanders,

Paris, the City of Lights, makes its way to World of Tanks Update 9.16. Play this map in Random battles, and leave your tourist gear behind -- you'll need serious tank power to fully appreciate this metropolis!

Before, we discussed the historical side of the map, but here we'll cover gameplay basics and how different vehicles should approach Paris.

A Whirlwind Tour

Paris is made up of three key zones: an open space along the Seine riverbank, the urban districts to the south, and the map’s center, the Trocadéro. They make Paris a dynamic map full of opportunities for epic shootouts and surprise attacks, among other maneuvers.

The zones are peppered with buildings, roads, and greenery. As on other maps, this terrain can either give you the upper hand, or expose you to the enemy. There's no need to go exploring alone; read on for our little Paris travelogue…

Seine Riverbank

Tactics

The Seine is in the northern part of the map and ought to be an active confrontation zone, especially around the park area and along the riverbank itself. The park has four gravel hills at its perimeter and one more at the very border of the map, all providing good cover, so expect a lot of rushing and fighting for these points.

As we stroll down the riverbank, you can see it provides many different offensive opportunities. If you seize the center of the map, you can provide supporting fire to the urban areas and help allies break through to the enemy base. Keep in mind that cover on the riverside is sparse and taking position there is risky -- don’t be surprised if you get sniped from across the map, spotted by opponents who were waiting for you to arrive, or walloped by artillery.

Recommended Vehicles

The Seine is the domain of medium and light tanks -- they’ll make sure you have a good fight over the hills in the park. SPGs and tank destroyers should keep to the rear guard, closer to the map’s border, and support their more maneuverable allies.

Urban Districts

Tactics

Heavy tank players will be at home in this zone, because it's made for getting up close and personal. The bridge at the city’s outskirts is a key area to hold and will likely be quite active. Controlling it can ease your advance to the enemy base or further controlling the central area. Furthermore, SPGs will have difficulty reaching vehicles at the first line of fire, unlike the second line.

Recommended Vehicles

This is another area with "heavy tank" written all over it, though TDs are welcome, too. Medium tanks should exercise extreme caution here, and remain at the second line of attack or use heavy tanks as your shield.

Central Square

Dotted with bases and spawn points, the central square is the perfect area for light tanks to spot enemies. If you're a particularly talented light tanker, you can even spot enemy SPGs. That tactic can be risky, but your team will be glad they have you on their side.

Scouts can discover enemies right from the start of battle. To accomplish this, quickly move to the central square to spot enemies moving along the passages, and aim to flank them.

The center is also a perfect firing position. However, you’re out in the open, so expect to take a few hits. You’ll have a hard time securing this spot at the start of battle, since vehicles in the area tend to come under heavy fire; maybe put it off for later. The square becomes a key strategic point if the majority of enemy tanks are cruising around the rest of the map. If that happens, move to outflank them -- strength in numbers, after all. You team should make good use of light and medium tanks, as well as faster heavy tanks like the T-10.
